Chad Evans Artist Statement
The physical act of creation recorded in material. Chemistry and intent combine to reveal tactile music. Eyes listen. Sometimes a story is heard, or a poem is detected, but always the architecture is noticed.
My works are derived from a reverie for Asian aesthetic, African rhythm, Native spirituality, the Human condition, the love of Nature, an embrace of urban chaos, electronic frontiers, and the absurd. I employ found materials, industrial coatings, inks, pencils, pens and pastels, adhesives and fasteners, and occasionally something accidentally knocked over. When that gets too messy, I call upon a camera, scanner, digital drawing tablet, and much software.
